We really liked Belleville as it differs from the grandiose centre of Paris, where the Opera house lies, the cathedral, the big train stations, etc.

Punta Faro area is a good destination for passive holidays due to fine sand Atlantic beaches and very mild climate.

Faro town is a very old fishing village that has grown larger during the years. Old town is really worth visiting; your will find typical old fashioned buildings with balconies full of flowers and Portuguese tiled decoration.

While staying in Faro for a couple of days we talked to natives and got instructed to visit Rua Sao Francisco Street. It has oldest buildings in town that have been converted to night clubs and decorated with colourful street art – A tasteful combination between old and new.

It is a historical mountain area covered with dense forest, castles and ancient ruins. When visiting the castle had to leave the car at the bottom of the mountain because the further part of the road that goes up the hill is restricted to bus that takes visitors on the top and for those who decide to walk by foot.

The forest surrounding these mountains is spectacular; we have decided to visit the two castles of Sintra by foot. The walk was very interesting and relatively easy. Visitors can choose different routes by following signs - definitely worth going. ]]> contact@thetravelants.com (The Travel Ants) Tue, 2 Feb 2010 00:17:00 +0200 Portugal http://www.thetravelants.com/portugal/sintra-tourism Visit Lisbon - Travel photo gallery http://www.thetravelants.com/portugal/visiting-lisbon We visited Lisbon and its surrounding areas for a few days and to say the truth we liked it a lot. Weather conditions were excellent – Sunny days and warm nights. First thing that attracted our attention was the old town, also known as Alfama district. There we found interesting old buildings and narrow streets that lead to the castle. Lisbon castle offers spectacular panoramic views of the centre, port and the Atlantic Ocean.

To go out we used Santa Justa elevator to reach the top of another hill called Bairro Alto district. During the day we visited cosy restaurants and bars, also famous ruins of Convento do Carmo. We liked the district and decided to stay longer. As soon as the night kicked in many live music pubs and night clubs opened and we danced and talked to local people until late hours.
