Holidays in Lisbon
Lisbon area is a very good place to spend holidays. It has almost all one needs: mild temperatures, nightlife and nice beaches.
Beaches in Lisbon area are worth visiting. Fine white sand beaches like these are produced by Atlantic Ocean. In Europe these beaches can be found in Southern Portugal and South-western Spain.

Lisbon castle - Castelo de São Jorge

After Lisbon was conquered in 1147 by King Afonso Heriques he decided to build the royal family residence one of the seven hills. In 1511 King Manuel I build a palace in the present Praça de Comercio and made it a prison, theatre and ammunition storage. In 1755 the earthquake deteriorated the wall of the Castelo de São Jorge, that where reinforced in the Salazar period that reformed the castle and its surroundings.
Within the walls, we can find citadel, Barrio de Santa Cruz, which can be visited. You will need to get an entrance to access the castle. Castelo de São Jorge offers beautiful views over Lisbon and a nice walk through the area.
Lisbon harbour
Lisbon has a large industrial port. You will find cosy restaurants and bars in the docs.
Harbour also hosts interesting ancient fortress, Maritime Museum and Jeronimos Monastery where Vasco de Gama spend his last days.

Bairro Alto
This district of Lisbon is one of the most popular and traditional. It´s a very nice place to walk, many narrow little streets, lots of restaurant and little interesting shops.
Lisbon music
Bairro Alto is a great place to have a drink at night. You will find old narrow streets filled with colourful pubs and discos. Lisbon offers very rich nightlife – From traditional Fado concerts to modern jazz and electronic music parties.
